Pretty small but lovely cafe with a very cosy friendly vibe. Totally amazing breakfast hashes – crispy potatoes and loads of cheese on top whatever you’ve ordered. Huge too!

A pretty standard caff type place, but decent seating, clean and with friendly staff. Some very cheap options (eg egg on toast for £2), ok but not the best.

One of the few booze places right in North Laine, and it’s…fine. Very friendly, but pokey outside bit at the back with crappy tables and pretty small all round. Better probably to go to a proper pub.
Verdict: Ok

Classic pizza/chicken takeaway. Prompt, and the cheesy garlic bread was everything I hoped for (and the reason I made my order), but all the fired stuff was really pants. The chicken wings and nuggets tasted really weird like they were using really old oil or something.
Verdict: Don’t go

Surprisingly huge pub with great interesting art deco type decor, a roof terrace and lots of nice seating. Really pleasant place!

Great community pub in Hove; lots of outside space including a pretty great play area for kids (fenced off!). Everyone there just great, and the food was smashing too. Will be going back.

The Red Roaster cafe turns into Northern Thai barbecue at night, and it’s a great place for a restaurant – spacious, high ceilings, things you don’t typically get in a Brighton cafe! Lucky Khao does small (ish) plate sharing and it was really top stuff. From spicy papaya salad to amazing goat ribs to curries, great thing is a lot of variety for one restaurant (lots of spiciness!). Charcoal stuff the best. Great service and very reasonably priced!

Great pub with a huge outdoor space, rotating wide selection of craft beers, and two music venues. Food looked amazing – only had sweet potato fries but they were exceptional!

Cosy little space in the Lanes, but good service doesn’t make up for what could be called at best workmanlike food; calamari fried to death and average steak cooked averagely.
Verdict: Don’t go
Location: 6 Market Street
Really solid cafe with a rustic interior and an excellent menu; eggs benedict in particular generous with bacon and happy hen eggs. Lots of nice space!
