Didn’t realise they had a Sunday roast menu like a pub, but I don’t think that affects the result. It’s…fine. The interior is ok. It bills itself as a cafe, then “The Grill Room” takes over – but has the same menu? And the food was just ok – burger was ok. Roast lamb was ok. Sticky date pudding was good and the kids’ menu was good. Just nothing to draw one back really.

CRACKED @ FIKA

I first came across these guys with a cart out the back of the station, but turns out FIKA is a proper cafe in Hove. Anyway, they specialise in fried egg sandwiches. Had a Deliveroo with candied bacon, egg, cheese and tonkatsu sauce. It was really yummy, all the ingredients were really nice quality, beautiful sourdough. Plus a great brownie for after!

Gu Xiang Ju

Wow, a new king I think – we only had vegetable buns, prawn toast and chicken balls, but they were all fresh, hot and delivered quickly. Really fantastic – must try and more traditional food!

Shake Shack

This is one of those Deliveroo “Editions” where the restaurant isn’t actually in town, just delivery. Struggled with this one. Burger was pretty good, crinkle cut fries were really nice, and the spicy chicken bites were genuinely amazing. So I enjoyed my dinner a lot. But the prices are hard to swallow – the 6 chicken bites were £6.25 and a lot smaller than a normal nugget. Ultimately awesome, but better options really.

Arriba Arriba

Nice looking Mexican on Deliveroo, had a quesadilla which unquestionably had quality ingredients but didn’t travel very well. Would like to try a burrito; hard to say with this one as pretty expensive, especially for sides.

La Tana

Italian that came to my attention for hot stone steak which you cook at your table. That was actually pretty fun, although it really wanted some proper sauces instead of BBQ, mayo and mustard. But the food otherwise was pretty hit and miss; tasty pasta sauce, but tough calamari, flaming creme brulee but average zucchini fries. I was leaning a little more positively but then pricewise it’s way high for what it is!

Stateside Diner

Delivery only place specialising in mac and cheese and hot dogs; I have zero interest in the latter but the former was pretty tasty. But very disappointed by garlic dough balls which were just dough with, like, melted garlic butter in a pot.

Curry Leaf Cafe

Deliveroo’d this and struggled a bit with the verdict, because it’s quite different from your average Indian. More street food-y so hard to compare. Pakora and samosas lovely, curries hit and miss (amazing aubergine thing but mutter paneer pretty bland – but a bit of salt and you’re cooking with gas), naan bread light on flavour for something called garlic and coriander, but mixed poppadom bites pretty great. A few further points off for just a pretty small menu (for returning value) and expensive for Indian. But, ultimately, it was a really good meal.

Oowee Vegan

Deliveroo Editions doing burgers and dirty fries, all vegan. My feeling is that it delivers a good approximation of a crappy burger experience.
